Do try this at home: Granola Stocking Stuffers!

I’m loving granola this season, as folks are soon to find out.  Makes a great give-away–dress it up in a cookie tin or double-bagged paper lunchbag.  I’ve created my own version of this crunchy treat, low sugar and low fat.  You could get hooked because its so easy and snackable.  Enjoy!

2 Cups  Oats

1/4 Cup chopped Pecans

1/4 Cup Sunflower seeds

2-3 TBLS cinnamon

Dash of salt

1/4 Cup chopped dates OR raisins OR Dark chocolate chips

1/4 Cup Coconut flakes

1/4 Cup organic liquid vegetable/seed or coconut oil, unrefined

3 TBSP molasses (less if you’re not into the taste, but compensate with a little more of the other syrup below)

1/3 – 1/2 Cup Agave OR Brown Rice Syrup (use tad more for Maple)…

Note Brown Rice gives it a crunchy bar/brittle consistency when baked (like the picture).  Agave may not stick as solidly at this measurement so you’d have to experiment more, but it makes nice chunky cereal!  Honestly, I haven’t done maple, but my guess is you will get even less stickiness.   Write me back if you try it!

MIX!!!!  MATCH YOUR OWN INGREDIENTS. Spread onto a large cookie sheet, as flat and even as possible.  Keep somewhat thick if you’re hoping for a brittle type chunk.

Bake at 325 degrees for no more than 15 minutes.   Let cool.
